Hi All,

Well National Sorry Day has begun, it is only a beginning
but let's hope it inspires all of us to be the best and most
compassionate honest and wise people we can be going
forward. For if we are not going to be that, then what is the
point of being? Great Speech Kev; brutally honest, to the
point but hopeful.

On a less paramount but promising note - I am playing a gig
tonight at:

The Rose Of Australia, Erskineville
with Bernie Hayes.
9pm start
free entry (ofcourse!)

so come on down for some folk and blues healing. I will be
accompanied by Shet on guitar and we'll be doing some old
and new tunes to tap your foot to!

Also, this Sunday 17th Feb I will be playing at:

The Opera Bar, The Toaster, Opera House Steps/Bennalong Point
with Giant Steps Jazz
2.30pm - 5.30pm (I'll be joining them from 3.30pm)
free entry (ofcourse!)

then from 6.30pm come to the Domain for Tropfest where you
will be able to view the recent Mitsubishi Commissioned short-film
ads (for which I have composed and produced the music for the
chapter; 'Stronger' directed by internationally recognised short film
director; Annabel Osborne) on the big Screen!!!

also; stay tuned for details about my upcoming album release...

See you there!!!

check out this review we've recently unearthed for Erratic's 2nd Album;
Realist;

Erratic - Realist

Written by Carlos D.

Friday, 19 October 2007

Phantom Records/MGM

8/10

Erratic's third album Realist continues to solidify the band as
frontrunners
in the 'new wave' movement. With their signature sound of
electro/rock/funk
and additional vocals by guest Katy Mac, Erratic impress with their
skills on the
drums, bass and keyboard so much so that you'll enjoy the several
instrumental
tracks on the album. Things start off with the electro/rock vibe of
Hollow Chambers,
a song that incorporates hip hop-styled vocals, that leads into the next
track Realist. An early highlight, the Aussie hip hop vocals shine over
the
funk-driven, bass-ridden backing music. Things only get better with the
commencement of Zilch, which is the first track to feature vocalist
Katy Mac.
Her fiery, sexy voice, with its rap/sing song style makes the song the
stand out
on Realist. The attitude she oozes when she spits
"that's right baby, I'm a natural wonder" will definitely have you
hitting
repeat on that one. Instrumental track Jellyfish is almost the aural
equivalent of the animal it's named after, with its breezy, almost
floating feel.
Rounding off with the hypnotic Into The Sun, Erratic's eclectic style
ensures
that they will continue to garner acclaim from fans old and new.

the 15th but check :

in the next week or so for the correct date if you
want to come on down!

Wren Biography

“Katy McNamara is one of this country's finest vocal talents.”
Sarah Wilco, THE DRUM MEDIA

Wren’s debut EP Letters Unsent is out now through new label Beat Route. The EP’s first track, Fade, is the first single released to radio.

Introducing Wren, solo music project for Sydney singer and musician Katy McNamara. Having written and recorded with various outfits over the past five years, Katy ‘Wren’ McNamara, the singer-songwriter, has truly arrived.

Armed with her acoustic guitar and voice, she's ready to take audiences on a mesmerising journey. An ethereal performance from Wren will invariably carry the listener away to a peaceful world of dusty mornings, rainy afternoons and starry nights. In Wren’s music, you can hear traces of KD Lang, Nick Drake, Norah Jones, and the rustic feeling which haunts Beck's Sea Change album.

A respected singer within the music industry, Katy sang backing vocals on Jimmy Little's 2001 single (Bury Me Deep In Love) which appeared on his album, Resonate. Most recently, she contributed backing vocals on the
Whitlams last album, Torch The Moon released in August 2002.

Live audiences are often taken on an exquisite journey with Wren. The sentiment and honesty of expression in her music shines through, both in solo mode and with other musicians in ensemble form.

HISTORY

Inspired creativity and artistic expression happens naturally with Wren. Katy’s middle name, Wren, comes from her ancestor, Sir Christopher Wren, celebrated for designing St Paul‚s Cathedral in the United Kingdom. Katy started singing at the age of three, developing an ongoing interest in music and visual arts over time. Her talents progressed further as she completed an Associate Diploma in Expressive and Performing Arts from the University of New South Wales.

After graduating, Katy joined a local outfit called Orpheus(now known as popular Sydney band; The Camels). Then for several years fronted critically acclaimed Sydney group, Iliad, helping develop the band's reputation for producing commanding and atmospheric music.

More recently, Katy composed and recorded the eerie but beautiful classical film score for the short film; 'Midnight Screening'.

Currently, Katy is writing and singing with the very popular Sydney based funk and dance originals group, Erratic. After the successful & well reviewed release of her debut EP 'Letters Unsent' as well as Erratic's debut EP; 'Escalar' in 2004, Katy is working on a debut solo album to be released in 2005.

ADDITIONAL MEDIA REVIEWS

“(Wren) has a voice to positively die for. I would assume she takes influence from nobody except the best - Billie Holiday and Etta James.”
David Olivetti, THE DRUM MEDIA

“An awesome display by the female singer whose voice was mountainous, windswept and wonderful.”
Beat Magazine.

“McNamara uses her vocals to provide a fervent emotive force that shifts between moodiness and uplifting contemplation.”
Jasper Lee, Oz Music Project.Net.

LYRIC SAMPLES

(From All Rivers Lead to This)
Like the dog-eared picture in my pocket
I take it out to look at you
But in the brown and white you fade away
Well it would be easy if I could forget yesterday
But I can't change what is
All rivers lead to this

(From Stuck in the Middle)
We could do a lot of talking
But you know I think I know what's been goin' on
Just the feel for your love, the way it slips through my fingers
Every time the lights go on and...
I try
I try to let my words out from their cage
But I'm stuck in the middle it's enough to make me crazy in a stormy
weathered rage
But not enough to cross that line

(From Rubber Band)
Goodbye old broken-down love, second hand
Well you told me you loved me with a rubber band
And it was scarlet red
But it was so damn cheap
The tensions broken now, I'll put my heart back on the street
